Stoneleigh Arms and The Old School House

The Scheme:

The 2nd phase of the Creative Quarter development consists of the redevelopment of a derelict pub, an old school house, and an underutilised car park, off Court Street in Leamington Old Town. The new development will have a distinctive character and be a destination to pull visitors to the area. It will support and link to the continuing regeneration of Leamington’s Old Town – uplift the surrounding area and be a catalyst for further change in the area. We also plan to encourage active transport and a shift away from car use, tying into a wider sustainable movement network and encouraging connectivity and permeability to and through the area. The projects are enabled by the Government’s Future High Street Fund and co-funded by Complex Development Projects.

Planning Permission for this project was approved in December 2023 and building works are now complete and handed over to Warwick District Council for operation.

We are excited to share details of new occupants very soon.

In addition to the redevelopment, we are committed to creating vibrant public spaces that foster community engagement and cultural activities. The integration of green spaces and art installations will enhance the aesthetic appeal and provide a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike. Our vision is to create a lively hub that not only preserves the historical essence of the Old Town but also embraces modernity and innovation.

The Stoneleigh Arms:

The former Stoneleigh Arms closed in the 1990s, derelict and completely inaccessible, with much of the ground floor having collapsed into the basement. In a prominent position on Clemens Street, it has been a blight on the streetscape for several years.

The derelict former public house has been replaced with a new building of a similar scale and style to be utilised for mixed-use, multi-disciplinary creative workspace for cultural, community and educational use. This includes the creation of new artists’ studios, pottery studios, and galleries, and it will start to develop a hotbed of artists working and playing in the Old Town’s creative quarter. The building retains its traditional style with modern twists to reactivate the frontage and flood the building with light and a feeling of space.

The building is now complete and will be handed over to new occupiers soon

The Old School

This building, which has a history of multiple uses, has been restored, converted, and extended to provide a multi-purpose education, arts, and community space.    Reinstated arched windows, character brickwork, and new entrances, links to the pocket park and arts hub on the Stoneleigh Arms site. The new extension, now named The Depot, is a stripped-back back space with an industrial feel, light and airy, suitable for many uses.   Space is still available to let in the Old School/The Depot; this will be available to any individual or business working in the cultural/creative sectors who can contribute to the delivery of an exciting, vibrant and dynamic new destination in Leamington.

The buildings are now complete and new occupiers will be announced very soon.
